Opportunities For Scouts

For Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA and Teens. Patriots’ Path Council offers so many fun activities throughout the year for Scouts of all ages. Get outside of your regular meetings, and join us at one or more of these great programs. Many of them are designed for dens, troops, crew. Some are suitable for the entire groups and and others are also available to individual Scouts and families.

ALLAMUCHY CHALLENGE TRAIL – is a self-guided trail which tests various Scouting skills. Group size should not exceed 12.
A guide is available from camp master at check-in. Minimum required equipment: pad, pencils, compass, Scout Handbook.
PARTICIPATION PATCH AVAILABLE – $3.00
HISTORIC SITE HIKE (self-guided) – an easy walk /hike (2 miles) Walking shoes a must and dress for the day’s weather. Trail
guide is available from camp master at check-in PARTICIPATION PATCH AVAILABLE – $3.00
HISTORIC TRAIL (self-guided) – an easy 4 OR 5 mile walk/hike back into the history of the area (both on and off the camp

Historic Trails

We have several historic trails that let Scouts explore New Jersey’s rich history. Several historic trail hikes are suitable for Cub Scovictory trail medal with pinuts.

  • The Jockey Hollow Trail for Cub Scouts 11-2019 has a 5 mile Cub Scout trail at Morristown National Historical Park
  • Victory Trail -pick your own date to hike this historic 13 mile urban trail from Elizabeth, NJ to Springfield, NJ. The route follows the British advance into New Jersey that was stopped at the Battle of Springfield.
  • Winnebago has a Cub Scout historic trail – 2 miles
  • Allamuchy offers a guided weekday or self-guided weekend 4-5 mile hike and a shorter historic site hike.

Third Annual Patriots’ Path Family 5K Run/Walk

June 13, 2020, 8:00-11:00 am at Duke Island Park, Bridgewater

Please join the Patriots’ Path Council, Boy Scouts of America, for our third Patriots’ Path Family 5K Run / Walk. This will be a fun event for individual runners, walkers and the whole family. We would encourage you to represent your unit individually or assemble a team from your unit to show your support for the Scouting program. Entire families are also encouraged to sign up and have everyone participate, either running or walking for a set price of $75. The proceeds of this event will go to support all the programs of Patriots’ Path Council, Boy Scouts of America. New in 2020 a 1 mile fun run.

  • Fels Planetarium – On a daily basis, the museum offers shows such as “The Sky Tonight” and “To Space and Back.”  You’ll be put into an immersive 60-foot dome to provide you an amazing view for cosmic exploration.  Planetarium shows are included with individual visits and are just a $5 add-on for groups.
  • Night Skies – Filled with out-of-this world astronomy activities, these special events are led by Derrick Pitts, our chief astronomer, and are designed to give you a full education on stars, planets and other celestial objects.
