The parks provide ranger-led rank specific activities, live animal demos, self-guided hikes on nature trails with educational resources, award winning pollinator gardens.  Bring your bikes for the Sussex Branch Trail. Impressive view and a sand beach. SIW hosted our Cub Scout Freeze O Ree here last March which included a Sussex District hour on the ice plus we ran outdoor activities all afternoon. Tours of the facility including the zamboni garage are interesting for the scouts.  Skating as dens/ packs/ families is always fun. Instruction is extra. Request for ice hockey demos/ try it days, too. 9)  WALLKILL RIVER NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE only 30 rivers in the USA flow from South to North and we have one in Sussex District! https://www.fws.gov/refuge/Wallkill_River/visit/visitor_activities.html 973-702-7266 Wood Duck Trail is perfect for Lions and older scouts and scouters. 5 different hikes are here. Check ever-changing events, request docents, good place for service projects.
