Roundtable is a monthly program offered by each District that gives leaders hands-on experience and provides a forum for leaders to offer and receive help from their fellow Scouters. There are separate sessions for Scouts BSA leaders and Cub Scouts leaders; many Roundtables begin with a joint session to hear announcements and upcoming event schedules that apply to all leaders. Roundtable sessions explore a particular activity or area of interest. Leaders are encouraged to share their questions, their successes and their failures (usually the latter is the most instructive!). Helping you, the Scouting leader, is the sole purpose of Roundtable.
When are Roundtables and Where?
Pioneer District Roundtables alternate between Tuesday & Wednesdays via in person & Zoom meetings from September to June. Please check the Roundtable calendar for the latest schedule.
Who should attend?
Everybody! Roundtable is designed for all leaders – Venturing Crew Advisers, Scoutmasters, Cubmasters, Webelos Leaders, Committee Members, Assistant Scoutmasters, Den Leaders, Commissioners; every scouting position has a place at Roundtable. Whether you’ve been in Scouting for 40 years, or just signed up last week, Roundtable has a lot to offer you.
Why should I go?
Because Roundtable is by, for, and about YOU, unit leaders, committee members and commissioners! Roundtable is loaded with ideas, discussion, and demonstrations of all kinds. Got a particular problem you just can’t work out? Come to Roundtable and ask the group – draw on the years of Scouting experience made available just for you.

A camporee is a fun weekend filled with Scouts BSA skill competitions and meeting other Scouts from around our area (that area is called a “district” and is usually defined by school district attendance boundaries or county lines). There is typically a Spring Camporee or Fall Camporee. A camporee can look a lot like a regular weekend campout. Other times, there might be a special theme for the weekend.
The camporee skill competitions take place by patrols (a patrol is a group of 8-10 Scouts within a troop). These competitions usually cover fundamental outdoor skills like fire building, knot tying, or cooking or even video games… or they could just activities just for fun like relay races, memory games, and more. All camporee events are friendly and intended to motivate Scouts to master basic skills, engage in respectful competition, and further develop youth leadership and teamwork.
Often Scouts BSA Troops will invite Webelos (5th grade) Scouts to participate with them during the weekend to sample the activities they’ll enjoy when graduating to the next step in Scouting. A highlight of the weekend is the closing campfire put on by our troops. Top scoring patrols will receive awards and everyone has the chance to enjoy Scout Spirit and friendship at the closing ceremony.
