About Weekday Programs
Mt. Allamuchy Scout Reservation offers a variety of 1½ – 2 hour programs to Cub Scout and Webelos dens after school on any mutually agreed upon day and start time during the dates indicated below. All programs (except historic hike & trail) are held indoors in a heated facility. On site parking is available at the Kent Center.
Program Cost
$15 registration fee per
den tor each class in addition to the per person fee. No registration fee for the self-guided hikes.

  • Total fee is registration fee + per person fee
  • The registration fee is non-refundable ,but the program date may be rescheduled
  • Minimum charge to conduct a class is registration fee + 4 times the per person fee
  • Limited to one den per class
  • Optional patches are available for most programs at $3 each
Payment
Group registration fee (if required) must be received no later than 10 days (no reminders) from the date of phone registration or the reservation will be canceled. The per person fee and the fee for optional patches are payable on the day of the program.

About Weekend Camp Programs
Saturday programs are available to groups who are camping for the weekend or for day trips. A few programs are also held Sundays. Classes and programs are either scheduled, self-scheduled or available upon request. Most are suitable for Cub Scouts and Webelos; and a few are for Boy Scouts only.

Allamuchy Challenge Trail ~ Self-Guided
Self-guided trail which tests various Scouting skills. Group size should not exceed 12. Minimum required equipment: pads, pencils, compass, Scout handbook. (Outdoors) Participation patch available $3.

Archery ~ Kent Center ~ Indoor & Heated
8 shooting stations – fees include all equipment and instructor. No more than 8-12 shooters scheduled for any one-hour period. Call for available hours. $15 registration/hour + $3/shooter/hour. Shooting patch available $3.

Archery Shooting for Awards (Kent Center Only)
Shooters must meet required scores for each of the three levels.  Fee $15/registration per group + $3 per hour per Scout. Participation patch available $3. Award patch $2

Available to qualified/trained (proof required) leaders (minimum 2) – 3-hour morning or afternoon session (based upon availability). $130 per session. Shooting patch available $3.

Rental (minimum 2 hours) to qualified/trained (proof required) leaders (minimum 2) $45/hour (2 hour minimum) . Fee with our instructor (when available) is $60/hour. Closed Dec – March. Shooting patch available $3.

BB Gun Shooting for Camp Awards (Kent Center Only)
Program requires the shooting of 5 qualifying targets for each of the three levels. Fee $15/hour registration per group + $3 per hour Scout. Participation patch available $3. Award patch $2.

BB Guns ~ Indoor & Heated
8 shooting stations. Fees include range officer, shooting instruction, safety talk and all equipment. Cubs shoot for fun or to earn shooting awards. Boy Scouts shoot for fun or to earn a merit badge. Call for available hours. Safety talk and instruction takes approximately 15 -20 minutes for new shooters. No more than 8-12 shooters scheduled for any one-hour period. $15 registration/hour + $3/shooter/hour. Shooting patch available – $3.

Visit with Santa, have your picture taken with him, enjoy breakfast and have fun making a craft. A separate registration form is required.

Cast Iron Chef – Webelos Only
Prepare a balanced meal using dutch ovens.Minimum 6 Scouts. Maximum 8 Scouts. Available Saturday afternoons as follows: 10/22-11/19 2016 and 1/7 – 2/25/2017 and 5/13 – 6/10/2017. Registration $30 + $9 per Scout.

Compass ~ Basic
Introduction to the use of map & compass and orienteering. Instruction and practice is held indoors. Each participant needs an orienteering compass with a base plate. Acceptable compasses include Silva Starter 1-2-3, Silva Polaris, Four Fold, Polaris Plus, Polaris, Explorer 3, or Map Compass. $15 registration per group + $3.50 per Scout.

Step course to determine your pace, followed by a basic compass course that requires measuring distances.

The Great Pumpkin’s A to Z Hunt ~ Outdoor
Designed for Cub Scouts and families. Each team will travel around camp to give answers that will complete statements. These answers will help the group discover their hidden message. Registration fee $4/person. Payment to follow within 10 days of registration or reservation will be canceled. Limited to the first 50 paid registrations (adults, Cubs, siblings) per day/time. All participants take home a treasure.

Historic Site Hike ~ Self-Guided & Outdoor
A short 2-mile hike that visits a historical location. Walking shoes a must and dress for the day’s weather. Participation patch available $3.

Historic Trail ~ Self-Guided & Outdoor
An easy 4- or 5-mile walk/hike back into the history of the area (both on and off the camp property).  Special narrated hikes may be available. Not suitable for younger Cub Scouts. Participation patch available – $3.

Maple Syrup Making and Pancake Eating ~ Indoor & Outdoor ~ Rain or Shine
Designed for Cub Scouts and families, but Boy Scouts are welcome too. Follow the process from tree tapping, sap gathering to pancake making and eating. Registration fee $50 (credit given for 15 participants on day of event) must be paid in advance. Additional participant fee is $3 per adult and child. Actual group size/payment must be made by 2 weeks prior to selected date. Participation patch available – $3

Rifle Range Rental ~ Outdoor ~ Closed December – March
Can be rented (when available) by groups with a trained instructor (proof of training must be received and be approved before a troop’s registration will be processed). A range contract will be issued which lists specific responsibilities. All equipment is provided. $75 per hour (2-hour minimum). Fee is subject to change based on cost of ammunitionShooting patch available – $3.

Based on availability. Offers 8 firing ports. $75 per hour (2-hour minimum) includes range officer instruction and all equipment. The safety talk and instruction takes approximately 10-15 minutes. Shotgun Range Rental ~ Outdoor ~ Closed December – March
Can be rented (when available) by groups with a trained instructor (proof of training must be received and be approved before a troop’s registration will be processed). A range contract will be issued which lists specific responsibilities. All equipment and supplies are provided. The fee is $20 per box of 25 shells (3 box minimum). Guns, 25 birds, and thrower included.  Fee subject to change based on the cost of ammunition.

Webelos Outdoorsman Cooking & Knots ~ Kent Center
Limit of one group, 4-12 Scouts, per session. All materials and food provided. Requires the booking of a full afternoon session. $30 registration/group + $9/Scout. Participation patch available – $3.
