Health and Safety FAQ

Planning Safe Programs, to Protect Scouting’s Future

Patriots’ Path Council is dedicated to providing the best outdoor programs, in the safest way possible. If you have any questions about summer camp please take a moment to read through the Frequently Asked Questions below, and review the Councils updates on the situation.

Our highest priority has been, and always will be, the safety and wellbeing of the youth we serve. It is our goal to get Scouts back to camp, safely. We will not operate a program or camp if it is unsafe, and we will do everything possible to keep your child safe and healthy during their stay at camp.

Will the rules change for camp this year?

Yes things will certainly be managed more strictly to protect campers, leaders and staff. We have gathered information, recommendations, and guidelines from the American Camping Association, the NJ Camp Directors association, the NJ Department of Health, as well as the Boy Scouts of America. It is our plan to operate our camps as safely as we can, in as familiar a way as possible for the youth we serve.  In the meantime, below are some answers to frequently asked questions we have received from leaders and parents.

What is the refund policy?

Individuals or groups that cancel a reservation 30 or more days prior to the date of the event will receive a refund of fees paid, less a 15% administrative charge. No refunds will be made after the 30-day cancellation deadline unless there is a medical or other emergency.

In the event governing guidelines change prior to a scheduled event, the refund policy is subject to change:

  • If the event is canceled, a full refund of the fees paid will be returned with no additional charges.
  • If an event is altered from operating as initially advertised, event fees will be prorated and refunded with no additional charges. Any cancellation request submitted after the initial balance refund shall be subject to the above Patriots’ Path Council Refund Policy dates and fees.

Patriots’ Path Council firmly believes that “A Scout is Clean” are words we should all live by. Staff members will be trained in approved sanitizing and cleaning procedures, and camp will be cleaned according to a recommended schedule based on use and traffic.

Will there be hand sanitizer stations?

Yes, all Patriots’ Path Council camps have had sanitizer stations for the past decade. We will be adding additional stations in high-traffic areas, as well as making sure that there is adequate signage and marking to the existing stations are easily recognized.

What happens if there is an outbreak at camp?

Based on the duration of the Scouts stay in camp, it is unlikely an outbreak will occur with Scouts. Our concern is for our staff, who will be working at camp all summer. We do have a communicable disease plan in place. All of these policies are to ensure that our staff are safe and healthy, and are available to keep your child safe and healthy.

Will the medical form policy be adjusted to not require a health provider signature?

No, the BSA Health and Medical Record will still be required for all Scouts, leaders, and staff, and will require parts A, B, and C. However, an E-signature will be acceptable from a virtual doctor’s visit.

Will there be more Health Lodge staff?

Our plan is to have more trained health care providers on staff. We plan to have at least one Registered Nurse or Physician’s Assistant on duty, as well as our EMTs and Paramedics.

Will Swimming be allowed?

Yes, swimming will be a program offered to participants.

Is weekend camping available?
