Camp Somers is located in beautiful and historic Mt. Allamuchy Scout Reservation, in Stanhope, N.J. Summer camp here runs for five weeks, with an additional week set aside for Backwoods Engineering Camp and co-ed Camp COLEY. During summer, Somers offers the following:
Trailblazer Day Camp
Trailblazer Day Camp at Camp Somers is a Boy Scout summer camp week long adventure. Boy Scout summer camp program is for all Scouts including both first-year new Scouts and experienced higher ranking Scouts. Scouts have the ability to choose to work on rank advancement, merit badges as well as participate in high adventure programs throughout camp. Camp runs five weeks, Monday to Friday from 8:45 am – 4:15 pm. Scouts can come to camp for more than one week and accomplish many of their Scouting goals. Bus transportation is provided from locations throughout Morris, Sussex and NW Somerset counties.
Troop Resident Camping
Come with your troop and enjoy a great week at camp. Participate in all our great programs, work on merit badges and have some fun at camp.
Provisional Camp Troop Resident Camping
Our Provisional Camp Troop program allows an overnight opportunity for Scouts who can’t go to camp with their troop, or those who want more camp time. These Scouts can work on more merit badges or just enjoy our programs. The camp provides adult leaders with many years of troop experience. If your son wishes to be placed with a particular troop, make arrangements directly with that troop’s leader prior to coming to camp then contact Tom Stoddard at 973-347-3266 or 973-347-2240 one week prior to your son’s arrival. Otherwise, the camp will place your son with an available troop. If your son wishes to be placed with a particular Scout, please note this on your registration, or contact Tom Stoddard at least one week prior to arrival.ing, and life-saving merit badges. Every day you will have the opportunity to be in the water.
Sunday will be spent in the water. You will take your swim test, learn about life-saving and participate in water activities. Free time will be spent at the iceberg! On Monday you will work on perfecting your boating skills and Tuesday will focus on sailing. There will be a trip to Lake Hopatcong on Wednesday where you will receive in-depth sailing instruction and sail on the largest freshwater body in New Jersey! On Thursday and Friday you choose your aquatic activities! Every day the action continues into the evening when we’ll have a blast at the other camp program areas!
Specialty Camps Resident Camping
Enjoy a full week of Aquatics, Backwoods Engineering, Climbing, Shooting Sports or STEM! Each area is limited to 25 Scouts.

Camp COLEY CO-ED Resident Camping
CAMP COLEY is a non-profit, weeklong, resident camp for all girls and boys entering grades 3 through 12 in the fall, whether they are part of Scouting or not. ONE WEEK ONLY: AUGUST 6 ~ 12, 2017.
