Lions: The Lion pilot was very successful in its first year. Those packs that participated now have the nucleus for next year’s Tiger den and have identified their Tiger leaders. All Fishawack packs are encouraged to adopt the pilot for September. Contact Al Thomas for more info, [email protected].
Fall Boy Scout Camporee: The Fishawack Boy Scout Camporee will be at Camp Somers, Mount Allamuchy Scout Reservation September 22-24, 2017. Registration is open through the Fishawack calendar at www.ppcbsa.org.
Fall Cubelos: The Fishawack Cubelos will be October 21-22, 2017 at Mt. Allamuchy Scout Reservation Camp Somers. BB guns, archery, zip line, and more, plus camping with your pack. Registration is open through the Fishawack calendar at www.ppcbsa.org.
Webelos Adventure: During the Fall Cubelos, Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts have the option of hiking to Camp Wheeler for a Webelos Adventure. Boys and their parent will spend the afternoon covering some of their rank requirements. They will hike back to Camp Somers for dinner and camping with the rest of their pack.

Fishawack’s Finest Fellowship Dinner and Annual Meeting: Our district annual meeting will be at the Fishawack’s Finest Fellowship Dinner, January 23, 2018. This is an opportunity to say thank you to a volunteer in your unit by naming them your Fishawack’s Finest for 2018.
2018 Klondike: Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Camp Somers, Mount Allamuchy Scout Reservation. Boy Scouts will test their winter outdoor skills. Webelos will be invited to attend mid-day to observe troops in action and for some fun activities.
2018 Spring Cub Family Camping – May 5-6, 2018 at Winnebago Scout Reservation. This a smaller event than the Cubelos. The district team runs some stations (rather than the packs) and lots of free time for each pack to do its own thing.
Rocket Into Cub Scouting – Saturday, October 14th from noon to 4:00 pm at Knoll Park in Parsippany. This is a join Cub Scouting event. It is free for boys who have joined a pack this fall (or bring a completed application form to the event). Current Cub Scouts can attend for free if they bring along a Cub Scout age friend who wants to join their pack. Participants will build and launch a model rocket. Friends of Scouting Kickoff: Fishawack’s FOS Kickoff, Thursday, September 28th, at Anchor Golf Center, 21 Route 10 in Whippany from 7:00-8:00 pm. Please send the person who will be your unit’s FOS contact person. RSVP to Beth Miller-Porter, [email protected]
Webelos First Aid Rally: February 10, 2018 at Camp Somers, Mount Allamuchy Scout Reservation from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. This program is designed to cover First Responder requirement, plus the Webelos and his parent will earn Basic First Aid card and CPR certification. Limited to 48 Webelos and 48 adults. Registration is open through the Fishawack calendar at www.ppcbsa.org.
Fishawack District Pinewood Derby: the first, second and third place finishers for each rank level at your pack’s Pinewood Derby will qualify for the Fishawack District Pinewood Derby on April 14, 2018. Time and location to be determined. Finalists in the district derby will qualify for the 2018 World Pinewood Derby which we expect national will be holding in New York City again (they have not officially announced).
December Rechartering: Fishawack charters will expire on December 31, 2017. All recharter materials will be emailed to your unit’s committee chair. Fees for full year are $54 per Scout and $36 per registered adult.
District Award of Merit: Honors volunteers who have rendered service of an outstanding nature within the district. Nomination forms are due by December 7th.
Silver Beaver Award: This award is for outstanding service to youth within Patriots’ Path Council. Nomination forms are available tonight and must be submitted to council by October 1.
University of Scouting: December 2nd in Randolph. A day full of various training modules for all Scouters. More info coming soon through the council calendar at www.ppcbsa.org.
Training: Cub Scout Leader Specific training can be taken online at www.my.scouting.org. Dates for in-person training sessions and registration links for all training courses can be found at https://ppcbsa.org/committees/training/.
Cub Scout Leader Specific will be given on September 16th in Cranford, September 23 in Cedar Knolls, September 28 in North Plainfield, October 5th in Hamburg, October 21 in Cedar Knolls and November 15th in Somerville.
BALOO is required for any pack camping activity (at least one trained leader). It will be given on September 9, 16, 23, 30, October 1, & 7 at various locations.
Boy Scout Leader Specific can be taken on September 16th in Cedar Knolls, September 23rd in Pluckemin and November 4th in Pluckemin.
Intro to Outdoor Leader Skills can be taken on October 6-8, 2017 at Winnebago Scout Reservation or on October 20-22, 2017, also at Winnebago Scout Reservation.
